Archibald worked at the Royal Arsenal, Woolwich as a "forger smith". In 1901 he was living with his parents, his brother Frank and his sister Nora at 47 Hanover Road, Plumstead, but shortly afterwards he emigrated to the United States, where he died in San Francisco in 1905, the year before the earthquake.
