Robert Coo is the link betwen the Gestingthorpe Coos and the Maldon Coes. As a linendraper,he may have come to Maldon to trade, and certainly found his wife there. He and Elizabeth, together with five of their seven children, are buried in the aisle by the d'Arcy Chapel in All Saints Church. The inscription on the floor slab, which is partially covered by a pew base, reads: "Hereunder lyeth the body of Robert Coe Maldon Gent the (?)..(who departed) this life ye 5th day (of ? in the year) 1650 in the 69th year (of his)age.
