In 1871 Elizabeth Smith, 50, with daughter Lucy, 21, Private Teacher, lived next door (173 Sandy Hill Road) to Enos and Lucy Vaughan (175).
Ten years earlier, in 1861, Elizabeth Smith, "American reading teacher", had been living at 3 Fox Place (the home of John and Jane Vaughan's family in 1851) with Ellen, 16, Tabitha, 13 and John, 2.
