Herbert Taffs was a founder member of the British Numismatic Society in 1903, serving as Secretary for many years and as President from 1938 to 1945. He collected English and Commonwealth coins, also USA and tokens of Kent. (From an obituary of the British Numismatic Society). He was extremely tall, in contrast to his twin sister Amy, who was small of stature.
