Clementina's baptism has not yet been found, and her exact birthyear is difficult to determine in view of the haphazard nature of her age in each of the censuses. For example, in 1851 her age was given as 66, giving a birthyear of 1785 but 78 in 1861 (when her name was transcribed as Christiana) while her age on death in 1870 was 90, extending the birthyear back to 1780 and making her a full ten years older than her husband Francis. This early date is also awkward to correlate with the marriage year of her parents, Adam and Clementina Nimmo, in 1787.

The marriage was conducted by Thomas White, Curate, in the presence of John Shaw and Thomas Keene. Clementina Nimmo made her mark.
