Thomas Coe was a linendraper in Maldon. On 12 Aug 1658 he bought a house on the way from the market to the Hythe - source Essex Review.
He was buried with two sons and a daughter-in-law in All Saints Church Maldon - source A Guide to the Church of All Saints, Maldon.
By the door of the south aisle are the following inscriptions on grave stones to the memory of four members of the Coe family. 'Here lyeth the Body of Thomas Coe, Gent., who Departed this Life the 31th March 1693 Aged 61 Yeares. Here also Lyeth the Body of Thomas Coe, his eldest Son, who Departed this Life the 3rd May 1699 Aged 33 Yeares. Elizabeth Coe, his Wife, died 25th June 1723 Aged 62. Here also Lyeth the Body of John, his second Son, who Departed this Life the 25 July 1691, Aged 26 Yeares.'"
